Lee seeks to keep the cash flow goingBy April Bethea Monitor Staff Gregory Lee Jr., a deputy high school sports editor at The Washington Post, is currently serving his second term as NABJ's secretary. Lee is also chairman of the S.E.E.D. program, which oversees the NABJ internship, scholarship, mentorship and the student development programs. Through securing partnerships with news organizations, Lee has helped to contain NABJ's spending on S.E.E.D. activities, which comprise about 20 percent of the organization's budget. A graduate of Xavier University, Lee founded the university's NABJ affiliate chapter. He's also held leadership posts in the New Orleans Association of Black Journalists, including president and treasurer. As chairman of the Region VII conference in 1999, Lee helped the chapter raise nearly $20,000. Lee also founded the Young Black Journalists Listserv, which led to the creation of the Young Journalists Task Force. |
